Center of Animal Nutrition (CAN)

INTRODUCTION

The Center of Animal Nutrition (CAN) is involved in providing quality services in the field of animal / poultry Nutrition to the livestock / poultry Farmers, Exporters / Importers of Feed Items, Feed Producers, Govt: / Semi Govt: Organizations, Community Extension Workers from different NGOs as well as graduate and post graduate students from different Universities of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The main focus of activities is to increase Milk, Meat and Egg production by feeding our livestock and poultry from the locally available feed ingredients on cheaper rates as well as to improve its quality resulting in improvement of socio-economic status of the poor livestock farmers of the province. Center of Animal Nutrition (CAN) is playing a pivotal role in Animal Nutrition and mandated to align its Research agenda with emerging needs and challenges of Livestock Sector, provide backup support in order to find research based solutions of issues confronting Animal Nutrition. 

 

OBJECTIVES / MANDATES

  1. Provide feed analysis facilities to cattle / poultry farmers, feed dealers, manufacturers and Govt: / Semi Govt: Organizations.
  2. Provide food / feed analytical facilities to the exporters.
  3. Extend Research facilities to graduate and postgraduate student.
  4. Conduct adoptive and Farm / Field oriented Research on various aspects of Animal Nutrition.
  5. Extend feasibility and advisory services to Farmers on various aspects of Animal Nutrition.
  6. Dissemination of Nutritional knowledge to Farmers in shape of booklet, pamphlet, print  and electronic media.
  7. Provide training and demonstration facilities to Vets, Para-Vets, Internees and Farmers.
  8. Provide specialized feed formulation facilities to Institutions and Farmers.
